Match Day: Fenerbahçe Defend a 2-0 Lead as 13 Deciders Hit Europe Tonight

Share:𝕏f

Tonight is the night the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League qualifying picture snaps into focus. Thirteen second-leg ties kick off across Europe between 18:00 and 22:00 CET, and by the final whistle a third of tonight's clubs will already be out for the season. Nowhere is the tension sharper than in Graz, Austria.

Fenerbahçe Carry a Two-Goal Cushion Into Austria

Fenerbahçe did the hard part at home. Anderson Talisca opened the scoring in the 9th minute at Chobani Stadium, turning sharply on the edge of the box before driving a left-footed finish into the bottom corner, and Mason Greenwood doubled the lead before full time. Sturm Graz now need to overturn a two-goal deficit on their own ground just to force extra time - anything less than a 3-goal swing tonight and Fenerbahçe are through to the play-off round.

Still Level After Six Goals: Union SG vs Bodø/Glimt

Not every tie is settled. Union Saint-Gilloise and Bodø/Glimt traded blow for blow in Brussels and finished 3-3 - six goals, no separation, and away goals no longer break a tie under UEFA's current rules. Tonight in Norway starts from level terms, which makes it the most genuinely unpredictable second leg of the round.

Olympiacos Still Waiting for the Breakthrough

Olympiacos controlled the first leg in Piraeus - 54% possession, five shots on target to NEC Nijmegen's four - and still couldn't find a way through. NEC's goalkeeper and back line held out for a goalless draw that keeps the Dutch side's Champions League dream alive heading into tonight's home leg.
